Pick Your Perfect Face Wash

Washing your face is an essential part of any good skincare regimen. However, gone are the days when a bar of basic soap and a hand towel were your only options. With so many different products on the market, it can be extremely difficult to choose the right one for you.

With this in mind, we broke down the pros and cons of each cleanser out there so you can narrow down the mind-boggling array of choices and put your best (and cleanest) face forward.

Foaming Cleanser

Pros: As a dual face wash and make-up remover, the foaming cleanser is very effective at removing grime and build-up that leads to clogged pores and acne, which is perfect for those with oily skin.

Cons: These products can be very drying so you should skip them if you already struggle with dry skin.

Facial Soap

Pros: This tried-and-true method is effective at removing dirt and great when you are on a budget.

Cons: Over time, soap can be very drying and harsh on the delicate skin of the face. Unless you opt for a more expensive soap, many are missing ingredients that prevent break-outs and fight signs of aging.

Cleansing Milk

Pros: Creamy cleansers are easy to use and gentle on sensitive skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

Cons: Sometimes, they are a little too mild to be really effective at removing dirt and make-up, clearing up acne and reducing blackheads.

Cleansing Wipes

Pros: Ideal for when you are too tired to go through the whole face-washing routine, wipes can remove make-up in a matter of seconds, leaving your skin feeling refreshed.

Cons: While you may feel like you’ve washed your face, wipes don’t typically get the job done all on their own. Most of the time, you’ve simply removed the first layer of makeup, while moving oil and dirt around your face.

Electronic Brush

Pros: The oscillating bristles on the sonic cleansing brush will deep-clean your pores and exfoliate your skin. Brushes are great for evening out skin, clearing break-outs and allowing for better absorption of moisturizers.

Cons: Usually expensive and most of the time, they are way too abrasive for daily use. A maximum use of twice a week is recommended.

Luxury Cleanser

Pros: Spending a good chunk of change of luxury face wash will get results since most of these high-quality products are very effective.

Cons: Obviously, the cost, especially for a product you will be using a couple of times a day. Since face wash can only contain so many active ingredients, you can probably achieve the same effectiveness with a budget cleanser that won’t break the bank.
