Personal style isn’t always about chasing every trend that walks down the runway. But let’s be honest, when the trends are to die for, why would we want to pass them up? Plus, who doesn’t love a good ole’ session of retail therapy?

With today being the first official day of spring, it’s about time to pack up those fall coats and add a few spring essentials to your wardrobe. Luckily, New York Fashion week definitely gave us tons of hints as to some of this seasons’ must haves. We’ve rounded up our top picks that you just can’t do without!

Pretty in Pleats

There’s just something about pleats that instantly romanticizes your look. The runway was filled with pleats, but not just any pleats–the finer, the better. This lady like trend should no longer be seen as just a staple of the royal family. Pleats can be most commonly found in dresses and skirts and works perfectly for a special function or date night.

Well, it looks like fashion designers simply can’t get enough of the 70’s. One of the decade’s most popular fabrics is said to be one of the biggest trends of the spring. From bags, to heels, to skirts or dresses, this is one staple fabric your closet just shouldn’t be without.

Let’s face it, there’s nothing new about denim in the spring or any season for that matter. Nonetheless, the element of surprise comes into play with seeing lightweight denim more than anything for this season, as well as a variety of denim styles including pencil dresses, wide-leg pants, and miniskirts.

Victorian

This trend is one that was commonly seen throughout fall 2015. Whether it’s floral print overload, high necklines, puffy sleeves, ruffles—you name it, the Victorian inspired trend certainly adds drama to any look.

Cold Shoulder

If there was ever a time to dust your shoulders off, it would be now. Retail stores everywhere have definitely been displaying their love for this trend in just about every store window you can think of. But who can blame them? The off the shoulder and cut out neckline trend gives you an effortless, easy- breezy feel, with a few pumps of sexy.

Flat Mules

We saw the craze over heeled mules last year, but for those of you who can’t stand to wear heels for more than a few hours, the trend gods heard your cry. I love how easy it is to simply slide and go with these flats. Pair them with some cuffed ankle jeans or even your favorite mini and you’re ready to go! And just when you thought all your prayers had been answered, they also come in tons of different prints, colors, and textures. Unbelievable, right?

Happy spring shopping!
