Anti-Aging Tip: Burn Calories All Day Long

Everyone knows that the harder you work out, the more calories you burn. Running, for example, burns 50 percent more calories than walking, according to a 2004 Syracuse University study. More significant, however, is what happens to your metabolism after a strenuous workout like running. Researchers at the Appalachian State University’s Human Performance Lab studied what happens after students vigorously bicycled for 45 minutes. For the next 14 hours, their bodies burned 37 percent more calories than they would have without the workout. In effect, the subjects changed their base metabolism.

Anti-Aging Tip: Exercise vigorously for 45 minutes if you want to burn more calories for the rest of the day.
