Beauty Tip: Weight Watchers

A recent study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that daily weigh-ins help people keep the pounds off. The study followed 314 people who had lost about 40 pounds within the past two years. They were either told to weigh themselves daily (and adjust their meals and activity level accordingly) or given newsletters about diet and exercise. While it’s common knowledge that most dieters regain some weight, the researchers found that those who did the daily weigh-in regained an average of five pounds less than the group with no prescribed scale checks. Rena R. Wing, study author and professor of psychiatry at Brown Medical School, says that daily weight watching can allow “people to see small increases in their weight and take immediate actions.”
