Only in America can you imagine a store in the most decadent part of the hemisphere name itself Only in Beverly Hills. And say what you like – it is the consummate name for the most remarkable gift store that every pop-culture fashionista, disillusioned hostess, pampered pooch, and smoochable munchkin should visit. Why? Because if the T-shirt “Call my Agent” fails to evoke enough chutzpah to conquer your next dream, nothing will. The store’s motto is “live fabulously” and that is what founder Lisa Bochner has set out to achieve for not only her celebrity friends that lunch with her at La Scala but for every star-struck hopeful from around the globe that walks up famed Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Love the word “Only..” – Why Only in Beverly Hills?
We see Beverly Hills as a unique destination as well as a lifestyle brand. As such, it has its own zeitgeist. The City’s image of money, glamour, and glitz is complemented by its chic residents, pampered pooches, and joie de vivre. There are things and people you see here that you’ll ONLY see here. Our brand and collection of merchandise captures that.
What makes Beverly Hills so unique to any other place in LA?
Beverly Hills has a rich, 100-year history of elegance and star power. The shopping is world-class, as is the people-watching. Many of our restaurants showcase famous chefs; among the many luxury hotels we have, 2 of which are international icons: the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Beverly Wilshire. Both properties have been immortalized through film, TV, and music.
Beverly Hills is also a tight-knit community of families who enjoy a lovely quality of life here, with top-notch schools, fire and police services. Many families, mine included, are 2nd and 3rd generation Beverly Hills residents.
The doggie toys channeling luxury brands are beyond adorable – what has been the feedback on those?
Those toys have been wildly popular, in-store and online, with visitors and residents both. The humor of these dog toys reflects ours and our store’s playful aesthetic as well.
Do you sponsor the dog walk in Beverly Hills?
We haven’t had the opportunity to do that, but we are a dog-friendly store and host many dog-themed and dogs welcome events in our store. We participate in the City’s Woof-stock fair every year, and we are the official merchandise purveyor for NBC’s Beverly Hills Dog Show Presented by Purina. We held a Valentine’s Day “date with your dog” party and are hosting an in-store party with Where magazine in June for the concierges in the city — they’re invited to bring their dogs– a first of its kind for Where!
What would you like to see happen with this store?
We would like Only in Beverly Hills to become a must-have experience for visitors, and a fun place for residents to shop anytime they want to gift some of the magic of our city.
What else do you hope to include in the store in the future?
We are always adding new products! We get great ideas from our customers and are inspired by what’s happening in pop culture. We are adding some limited edition summer apparel, a line of indulgent chocolate bars, some new barware and home accessories, and a killer women’s bomber jacket soon.
What do celebrities say who visit your store?
Kristin Chenoweth shopped recently, and thought our store was so clever and witty — she said she’d stop by again soon on her next visit to shop for herself and her new pup.
