Miami Swim Week The Shows 2023 Has Slated Style Guru Derek Warburton As Their Host And Ambassador

Miami Swim Week® The Shows 2023 this July 3rd-10th  will be packed with over 100 designers with 50 events at 10 satellite locations & so much more hosted by International media personality Derek Warburton. 

 With 30 years in the fashion business and 15 years in television and media, Warburton will be on site for the largest swim and resort wear festival in the world. Highlighting  brands such as  Liberty & Justice, Banana Moon, Cupshe, 209 mare, Tiare Hawaii, Ema Savahl, Jared Lang, Paola Estefania, Nicole Miller, Moda Mix, Maxine Affairs, OFFURE, Normal Culture, Relleciga Swimwear, Maaji and  Alvin Valley.

This year also brings the 1st Upcycle Worldwide Design Competition where the winners – design students – will show their collections on the Miami Swim Week® runway. The Little Lighthouse Foundation (LLF) is the benefiting charitable organization for the second year in a row. The main event – the runway shows – takes place at the SLS South Beach Hotel and debuts the Splash Lounge – a VIP experience for the industry.   Pop up experiences will be scattered across multiple venues including W South Beach, The National Hotel, Nautilus by Arlo, Showfields, ELV (Emanuel Luxury Venue) Miami Beach, Hyde Beach, Medium Cool, Red Steakhouse, Seaspice, Strings Miami Beach, The Deck at the Island Gardens and more. The Hammock trade show will be held at ELV Miami Beach a few steps from the Miami Beach Convention Center. Casa Hammock – the showroom/retail incubator on South Beach – will provide a physical space where designers and buyers will meet. The Miami Swim Week® will also expand its reach with the inclusion of special all-access Miami Swim Week® NFTs and digital collectibles.

Warburton has spent his career highlighting emerging and independent designers. He has been a style ambassador for fashion weeks in New York City, New Zealand,  Milan, Feeric Fashion Week in Transylvania, Romania and Madrid Fashion Week in Spain where he also hosted the digital series, “All Access Madrid” for 2 seasons.

Along with his fashion and media experience Warburton has been a sponsor and ambassador for many philanthropic organizations. In 2016 Warburton was named the style ambassador for the city of Los Angeles by the California State Assembly. In 2017 Warburton was named International Goodwill Ambassador for Just  A Drop, a clean water initiative who specializes in building wells in Africa and Central America. Then in 2022 he launched his “Equality Collection” makeup range with legacy beauty company FACE Stockholm. 100% of the sales benefit GLSEN an organization created by educators to protect LGBTQ children and their allies in schools.

For the second year in a row, Miami Swim Week® The Shows will kick off with a fundraising show to benefit The Little Lighthouse Foundation (LLF). 100% of all proceeds will benefit LLF’s mission. LLF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists underserved children and their families throughout South Florida. LLF has over 20 proprietary programs with 33 partner facilities, including, but not limited to, homeless shelters, hospitals, and youth centers. 

As usual, the week will feature many pop-up experiences from influencer parties, luncheons, dinners, VIP receptions, and industry events, to wellness and fitness activations. Showfields on Lincoln Road is set for hosting open house receptions while showcasing some participating designers.  Some of the perks for the industry will include the Splash VIP Lounge. This hub at the SLS hotel will serve as an oasis where VIP influencers, media, buyers and designers will be able to connect in an elegant setting away from the hustle and bustle. Selected designers will be presenting their stories to the media.  Derek Warburton will be hosting Experts’ panels that will discuss the latest trends and spotting outstanding talent. It’ll be a sanctuary providing a platform for individuals from the industry to mingle, exchange their impressions and share the highlights with the world.

Another key element of the Miami Swim Week® The Shows is the Hammock Show – an eco-friendly trade show for connecting niche brands with fashion buyers and retailers across the globe. This year it’ll be held at ELV Miami Beach and is just footsteps from the ocean and the SLS hotel.  Casa Hammock Showroom -the wholesale swim and resort wear showroom incubator located at Strings Miami Beach – is a unique concept tailored to support emerging designers and small businesses in overcoming the challenges of entering the market. ‘As a prominent figure in the fashion industry, we understand the difficulties entrepreneurs face, and our showroom incubator offers a physical space for them to showcase their latest collections and connect with potential buyers.
