Weighing In

NEW YOU Daily Tip:  Keep the weight off by stepping on the scale.

Expert advice says “don’t weigh yourself every day, it may depress you,” but a new study from Brown University of Tennessee may prove them wrong.  A study that took 178 adults at the average age of 52 showed that the subjects who weighed themselves on a daily basis lost more weight than those who did not.  The study actually taught the participants to view the scale as information.  It showed that stepping on the scale gave the participants regular feedback of whether or not their weight is in their desired range. The daily weight check did not create negative psychological effects like depression or eating disorders.  According to the study, the numbers on the scale were viewed as information that was constructively used to make lifestyle changes and keep the weight off.
