5th Annual Lights Camera Cure Event

Stars lit up the dance floor at the 5th Annual Hollywood Dance Marathon (HDM) over the weekend to raise money for Lights Camera Cure (LCC).  The HDM is a high-energy dance party/charity benefit featuring supporters who sign up to dance for six hours – whaaaa! – to raise money from family and friends. It’s pretty similar to traditional fundraising walks only this is busting a move on the dance floor!

Proceeds benefit pediatric cancer patient support and research programs at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. The event was a HUGE success and raised $124,597.68 to help fight pediatric cancer.

“We are very excited to bring people together in Los Angeles for our 5th year of dancing for a cure to pediatric cancer. No parent should have to hear the words ‘your child has cancer,’” says Executive Director Gary Werkheiser.

This dynamic benefit was held at the historic Avalon Theater in the heart of Hollywood and included non-stop entertainment, booming DJ’s, top bands, celebrities & VIPs on the Red Carpet, a silent auction, and more.

New You was on the Red Carpet to greet a few of the LCC supporters including Terrell Owens (former NFL wide receiver and TV personality), Jillian Rose Reed (MTV’s Awkward), Alyson Stoner (dancer/singer/actress), and more.

First up, we chatted with former NFL superstar Terrell Owens (T.O.) on the red carpet who was dapper as ever. The veteran football player let us in on his fitness tips which he advocates is all about fitness and nutrition, “I don’t eat fats, I don’t do fried foods, I play basketball for cardio, and I stay active.”

“People are always texting me about volleyball leagues, softball leagues … I’ll do everything. I’ll do bowling! It’s all about staying active,” he reiterates. Take it from a super athlete, former or not, he still competes and strives which includes a health regimen worth following.

Seattle Seahawks player, Garry Gilliam also attended the event where he also tells us his workout routine. “In the mornings I do a conditioning session, in the afternoons I lift weights, and in the evening I do yoga or Pilates.” Watch the full video below to find out his diet… hint hint, no carbs and no sugar!

Mollee Gray, an actress and dancer, tells New You she stays away from carbs, dances every day, and eats as healthy as she can. “I love a bold lip,” the blonde beauty talks about her fave makeup trends, “I have super dark purple, black, white, and light blue. I just love a bold lip because people look at you crazy but I’m confident!” Hear more about this lovely lady and her makeup must haves.

We also chatted with actress, singer, and dancer, Alyson Stoner, who also performed at the event. She let us in on a few great tips on how she stays in such great shape. Her answer was not the typical “working out and eating healthy,” but by resting, reducing stress, and listening to your body.  “I’ve battled with eating and health issues my whole life, so I’m not going to sit here and say obsess more and count more calories. Your body is an amazing machine and it will tell you what it needs.” For more tips watch the full video below.

Fresh Off the Boat actress, Chelsea Crisp talks about her workout of choice.  She is a BarMethod addict, and no, she isn’t a dancer and assures us that you don’t have to have a dance background to partake in the ballet-influenced workout class.  She also dishes on her eating habits. “Monday to Friday I’m really healthy while were shooting, but Friday night it’s all pasta all the time. Then I reset for Monday again.” It’s all about balance, my friends!

Awkward actress, Jillian Rose Reed gives us some of her personal make up tips. She is a frequent of the smokey eye. “For the daytime I just alter the colors a little bit, and do a brown smokey instead of a black smokey.” She also tells us her favorite foundation, which is Stila All Day HD.  “It’s the best one that I’ve ever found. I love it.” Watch more Jillian Rose Reed below.
