A Shark Wedding

Grab your defog goggles, we are heading to the Georgia Aquarium for a shark-filled scuba wedding! The adventurous bride and groom exchanged vows on the floor of a giant aquarium Sunday surrounded by whale sharks, manta rays and thousands of other marine animals.

This aquatic love story of Crystal and Justin started with meeting on Plenty of Fish (shocker) an online dating site for Christians.  The couple soon got engaged in Dec. 2015 and shortly after visited Georgia Aquarium for some holiday fun. It was then during their visit, that they decided to take their open water diving to the next level and ‘take the plunge’ amongst their oceanic friends.

The Georgia Aquarium Blog reported that Crystal had a white lace wedding dress slipped over a white wetsuit and completed her wedding-day attire with a tiara and veil. The veil also had fishing line weights meticulously placed on it to make sure it didn’t float away! Justin completed his groom’s attire with a black wetsuit, a white tuxedo shirt and bowtie. The wedding party even became SCUBA-certified just for this momentous occasion!

Justin floated “down the aisle” with his best man and preacher and took position at the Ocean Voyager theater viewing window. Shortly thereafter, Crystal and her maid of honor arrived, drifting elegantly into place.

The dive-enthusiast couple even vowed their eternal love to each other using adorable aquatic puns, “I don’t need to mull it over we are manta be together,” and “I conch wait to make it a fish shell.”

I wonder if the newt played the flute, the carp played the harp, the plaice played the bass and if they sounded sharp in the wedding band! (I could not help this).

In addition to their vows, the newly married couple shared their first dance underwater, gracefully choreographed to Ed Sheeran’s song, “Thinking Out Loud.”

The newly married Mr. And Mrs. Reynolds made Georgia Aquarium history by being the first underwater wedding for the states aquarium. “We are so used to ballroom weddings at the aquarium,” a spokesperson said.

Congrats to the bubbly couple!
