Adele Adamantly Rejects Playboy Offer
Posted On Nov 04, 2015
From the debut of her record shattering music video Hello to her bare faced cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, Adele is sizzling with our attention… and that of Playboy as well.
Adele dishes the details in a recent Rolling Stone interview, “I have been asked “Would you do Playboy?” so many f—ing times, it’s ridiculous. And is that because I’m a woman or because I’m fat?” The outspoken singer continues to say, “Would I show my body off if I was thinner? Probably not, because my body is mine.”
She even questions her success by asking herself, ”I wonder if I wouldn’t have been as successful if I wasn’t plus-size?” a struggle a lot of women can relate to, “I think I remind everyone of themselves.”
People are becoming more aware of body shaming and its harmful tone. Whether it’s Supermodel Gigi Hadid or Superstar Melissa McCarthy, celebrities are being criticized for their size. Adele is no different with her bold response to Playboy’s scantily request.
New You weighs in on body shaming by adding the element of self-compassion. Women who accept their imperfections have a more positive overall self-image, no matter what the scale reads. Approach disappointments and setbacks with kindness and recognize that these struggles are a part of daily life.
So, we continue to love Adele, not just for her soul bearing music, her cheerful British accent and witty eff bombs. It’s also her ability to gracefully defy Hollywood’s ridiculous beauty standards, where she wins. Every. Single. Time.
