Alicia Snubs Daisy as Lara Croft

Alicia Vikander is your new Lara Croft. The newly Oscar winning actress probably didn’t directly snub Star War’s Daisy Ridley, but that’s how a lot of us feel. Although Alicia slayed her performances in Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, she just isn’t Tomb Raider material. There have been rumors for months putting Daisy Ridley as the top pick for the role of the action star heroine, Lara Croft. But those rumors were just put to rest yesterday afternoon as Vikander signed on with Warner Bros./Time Warner for the video game adaptation with a fall-of-2017 release date.

I feel Daisy was the best pick for this role, as she is freshly trained in combat (i.e. advanced lightsaber mastery) for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and would totally own the younger Angelina Jolie version of the badass adventurer and raider of tombs. Ugh, why not Daisy, why?

Even with my subtle doubts, I have hope for the hit film whose signed on director Evan Daugherty (Divergent, Snow White and the Huntsman) and a screenplay crafted by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers 5).

In the end, I’m a huge fan of both ladies and am looking forward to both of them holding down mega action franchises (Tomb Raider and Star Wars) at the ripe old ages of 24 and 27. Talk about girl power!
