For Coldplay’s upcoming album hitting shelves this Friday, they have teamed up with none other than King Bey for one of the hottest collabs this year. The song, “Hymn for the Weekend” literally broke the internet after it first aired last night on BBC Radio.
With lyrics such as, “Life is a drink, and love’s a drug,” the song coincides with the group’s celebratory theme on their latest studio album, “A Head Full of Dreams.”
So what does it take to gain the attention of one of the world’s most sought after superstars to lend her musical talents? Lead singer Chris Martin told Entertainment Weekly, “This album is about celebrating, and this angel figure kept popping up and I was thinking, ‘Gosh, Beyoncé would be perfect, but she’d never do it.’ One day, we were talking and I was trying to drop the hint, but I didn’t want to be imprudent. And she said, ‘I’ll do it.’”
The Beyhive’s stamp of approval lets us know Coldplay made the right decision and they definitely have a bonafide hit on their hands! Take a listen to the track below and let us know your thoughts on this amazing musical creation.
