Bindi Irwin was crowned the champion of Dancing With The Stars season 21 on Tuesday following her impressive performance on the show alongside professional dance partner Derek Hough.
The dramatic finale ended with Bindi performing a series of dances with her pro partner Derek Hough that astounded everyone, after an emotional freestyle which paid tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin.
The victory came after a teary Bindi praised her father, known globally for his wildlife show ‘The Crocodile Hunter’. He was killed at the age of 44 after being struck by a stingray barb to the heart in Queensland, Australia in 2006.
One of Bindi’s supporters and judges Bruno Tonioli praised her earlier in the season, ‘He was dancing with you every step of the way. He is proud of you, Australia and the world is proud of you – and so am I.’
The 17-year-old Australian had already been pegged as the favorite among fans and judges for most of season 21 of the hit show. Proud mother Terri Irwin cheered and cried in the audience alongside her son Robert as her daughter received the infamous mirror ball trophy. Congrats Bindi!
