Captain America Breaks Box Office!
Posted On May 09, 2016
Captain America: Civil War grossed $179.14M domestically during its opening weekend, according to Forbes. It is no surprise that the third installment of Captain America did so well, given that all Marvel movies have done pretty well in the past. The movie now enters the top five highest weekend openings of all time. Captain America: Civil War falls behind The Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Avengers, Jurassic World, and Disney’s top performing movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That’s right, four of the top five box office hits are Disney movies!
I think we can all agree that Disney movies are taking over Hollywood.
Earlier this year Deadpool grossed $706.3M and Zootopia made more than $1B worldwide. Disney movies are taking over Hollywood and they are here to stay. We recently announced that Disney is releasing nine new films by 2019, Marvel movies that have been announced include:
Nov 4 – Doctor Strange
May 5 – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
July 7 – Spider-Man: Homecoming
Nov 3 – Thor: Ragnarok
Feb 18 – Black Panther
May 4 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 1
July 6 – Ant-Man and the Wasp
Dec 21 – Animated Spider-Man movie
Mar 8 – Captain Marvel
May 3 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 2
Inhumans movie coming but no official release date has been announced.
I think it is safe to say, most of my paychecks are going straight to the movie budget! These movies all sound so good, I can’t wait for the release days.
