What your clothes say about your personality

When you look into your closet, is there a specific color that takes over? Black and white are very dominant in my closet. Think about it for a second, what color is your go-to when buying new clothes? Maybe you are like me and go for monochromatic looks, or maybe you like bold, bright colors like yellow and red.

The colors you choose to wear might tell people things about your personality, but they might also affect the mood in the room!

So before you read further, think about that color that is predominant in your closet. Below you’ll find what each color says about you and how it may be affecting your mood.

White

If you wear white very often, you might be projecting that you are an open person, courageous, sincere, and very confident. White is a color associated with purity, cleanliness, and sincerity. By wearing white, you might feel calmer and at peace.

FUN FACT: In Japan the color white is associated with death, or when you are mourning you wear white.

Black

Black is a color associated with security, elegance, and sophistication. In some cultures, it is also the color for grief and mourning. If your favorite color to wear is black, people may perceive you as a reflection of an analytic mind; someone is very strong willed and independent.

FUN FACT: In Thailand, black is associated with bad luck and unhappiness *YIKES*

Red

Red is a very empowering color that draws attention. By wearing red, you can boost your confidence and sexuality. A study done by psychologists found that men perceive women wearing red in a more sensual way, and it contributes to attraction. It is a color associated with romanticism and also a color not liked by many.

FUN FACT: In India women wear red wedding dresses instead of white because the color is associated with fertility, love, and beauty.

Blue

Blue is a color that has two faces. On one hand it may be calming and relaxing, but if you have a case of the blues, blue may intensify that feeling and we recommend you stay away from it. Blue is a color that signifies loyalty, peace, trust, and positivity. People who tend to wear blue often live by their ideals and always stay on the side of truth. These people also tend to be more creative and often think outside of the box.

FUN FACT: In several cultures blue is the color of immortality.

Yellow

Yellow is a color that can brighten up your day and intensify your energy. It is said that yellow contributes to intelligence levels, so if you have a big presentation at work, or are in the middle of finals week: Wear Yellow! People who are always seen in yellow are perfectionists, analytical, creative, and cheerful individuals.

FUN FACT: In France the color yellow signifies jealousy. So if you are planning a trip to France, you might want to keep this color off your packing list.

Orange

People who wear orange have a deep desire to socialize and enjoy interactive conversations. Orange can also stimulate your appetite that is why many restaurants incorporate orange in the decorations because it stimulates conversation and it keeps people happily eating. However, if you want shade off those extra pounds you totally hate you might want to remove orange from your kitchen.

FUN FACT: In Hinduism light orange is considered a sacred color.

Green

Green has always been the color associated with eco-friendliness and recycling, however, it also linked to healing effects and it helps with breathing techniques. No wonder yoga is almost always done outdoors! Green helps to reduce stress so if you are feeling stressed about anything, just take a moment and take a walk at a nearby park and let the greenery do its work. People who wear green tend to be very charismatic and care about other people’s feelings.

FUN FACT: In Indonesia green is a forbidden color.

Purple

Purple is the color that has been associated with wealth and royalty. It is a color that plays a role in your intuition and spirituality, and like red it can boost your energy levels. People who love to wear purple are on the artistic side, are often very creative, and very sensitive.

FUN FACT: In Thailand, purple is the color widows wear when mourning their late husbands.

Pink

Pink is the color of femininity. People who wear it show confidence in their sexuality and also show that they are in touch with their masculine and feminine side. Pink signifies romance and might be a good color choice to wear for dates. Additionally, people who wear pink may be in need of love and also willing to give unconditional love to others.

FUN FACT: Back in the days in Belgium, pink was the color for baby boys. Also, in Korea pink is the color that symbolizes trust.
