The world has been watching (and falling ever more in love with) country-pop star Cassadee Pope for several years now… both for her extraordinary talent and her approachable, all-American beauty.

Pope is the former frontwoman of the group Hey Monday and the first female to win NBC’s The Voice. She released her debut solo country album Frame by Frame in 2013, hitting number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top Country Albums chart. Tonight, the 26-year-old beauty from West Palm Beach, Florida will undoubtedly cause whiplash on the red carpet the 49th Country Music Awards (hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, airing on ABC at 8 P.M. ET). Her new single, “I Am Invincible,” is an anthem of perseverance for young women and a declaration of self acceptance from which anyone can take a cue.

Pope has recently paired with Colgate Optic White –sponsor of the backstage lounge at the CMAs — to highlight the brand’s new whitening and dental health products. Colgate chose well in teaming with Miss Pope, as her smile is beautiful, genuine, and downright contagious.

NEW YOU: Cassadee! So, you’ve been leading up to the big night, the CMA Awards, as a partner with Colgate Optic White. How has the partnership been for you so far?

CASSADEE POPE: It’s been pretty amazing… I’ve been spending a lot of time in the Colgate Optic White backstage lounge, which is decorated so beautifully. It’s where the stars can come and relax, communicate on social media, meet some fans, talk to one another, get their makeup touched up, and, naturally, brush their teeth.

NY: We really love the new Optic White products. Do you have a favorite?

CP: I’ve got to say, red carpet or not, the toothbrush with the built-in whitening pen is a life-saver. I’m admittedly a coffee addict and drink a lot of it. Think about it: As a singer, people are looking at your mouth all the time as you sing into the microphone. So the brush with the pen has been a life-changing thing, removing surface stains and protecting the enamel so I don’t create new ones. It’s just one less thing for me to worry about. I have off-days when it comes to style, of course… Maybe not the best hair day, maybe not enough rest. At least I can take comfort in knowing that I have a bright, white smile.

NY: Now, awards shows really let a person have fun and dress to the nines. What can fans expect for your red carpet look?

CP: I’ll try not to give too much away, but the dress is pretty amazing. It’s a great mixture of old-Hollywood glam with the sheer look that I’m obsessed with right now. It has a mermaid cu and yet it’s also really trendy. I love it. For me, it will be all about the dress and the smile.

NY: What would you offer fans as far as everyday style advice?

CP: Just go with whatever mood you’re in. Sometimes I like to be simple, in jeans and a T-shirt. Other times I go with a dress and some boots. One thing that it pretty “me” is that I always like to combine the leather with the lace.

NY: A couple of years into your time in the public eye, do you still get excited about the CMAs?

CP: Oh, it’s totally awesome. I mean, backstage I get to hang out as Miranda Lambert of Blake Shelton walk by. This is the kind of thing I dreamed about growing up.

NY: Blake and Miranda may be just as excited to see you. You really are so talented. What can you tell us about your new single, “I Am Invincible”?

CP: Well, it’s speaking right to my fans, who are a really positive group of people. As a songwriter I have always tried to stand for positive thinking and star on the sunnier side of things. That’s just my outlook on life. With this song I am hoping to inspire them to be comfortable with and confident in themselves.

NY: Musicians are more able than ever to speak directly with their fans, via social media. How do you handle that kind of communication?

CP: Fan interaction is the most important part of what I do, and I’m constantly trying to stay in touch with them, keep my ear to the ground, and understand how they feel about my music.Although I do tour a lot, I don’t get to meet everyone, so social media lets me stay in touch. The fans uplift me more than they realize.

NY: Does it feel like a lot of pressure to communicate to many people at once?

CP: It’s a responsibility but a great opportunity. If ever a fan is self deprecating, for example, I always tell them, “Just be yourself. Embrace your imperfections. No one is perfect. Just rock it.” And hopefully that message rubs off on many people.

NY: What does your family make of all the success you’re enjoying?

CP: My family has been supportive from day one, since I started singing at four years old. I never questioned it, never wanted to do anything else, and my family was always right there. In fact, my mom is in town to help me prep for the CMA Awards as we speak.

NY: So what’s next for you? What is the next dream for Cassadee Pope?

CP: Well, I would love for “I Am Invincible” to keep touching lives and, of course, go number one. I have a new single, a duet with Chris Young, coming out in January called “Think of You.” So hopefully that gets out there in a big way. Meanwhile, we’re working out a great tour for next year. Really though, I’m not looking too far ahead. I’m enjoying what’s happening here and now.
