Daisy Ridley Up for Tomb Raider
Posted On Mar 11, 2016
The Force Awakens’ actress Daisy Ridley is film franchise hopping from Star Wars to Tomb Raider and we couldn’t be more excited for the 23-year-old newcomer. Her raving success in the latest Star Wars installment definitely warrants the young British star an opportunity to revitalize the iconic role of Lara Croft.
Deadline is reporting that it’s still very early in the process and no offers have been made. Ridley is in the running to play a younger version of the character than we saw in Angelina Jolie’s films a decade ago.
Just in case you missed out on the video-game-turned-Angelina Jolie-hotness-overload pandemonium back in 2001…
The spy-action mega movie is based on the long-running video game franchise, Tomb Raider. It follows the English archaeologist, Lara Croft, through a series of adventures heavily inspired by Indiana Jones.
If there is anyone to follow in the great footsteps of Angelina Jolie, take a huge film franchise by storm and skyrocket into the action-film stratosphere, it’s Daisy Ridley.
It’s not only her talent that fits the bill but also her poise within the industry that is duly noted. The Tomb Raider reboot gig comes days after Ridley released statements fighting back internet trolls who have accused her of setting “unrealistic expectations” by being too thin.
“I will not apologize for how I look, what I say, and how I live my life ’cause what’s happening inside is much more important anyway and I am striving to be the best version of myself, even if I stumble along the way… celebrate each other, celebrate the ones you love, love yourselves, work hard, and be kind.”
Ridley’s response speaks for itself. She emulates ‘heroine’ both on and off the screen. Go for it Warner Bros/MGM… you won’t be disappointed.
