The city of Miami is bringing the heat once again. It was just announced that celebrity athlete David Beckham, has acquired some real estate in the Overtown area. Reports indicate Mr. Beckham is embarking on a new venture to build a soccer stadium in the city’s historic location to further add to his Major League Soccer franchise.
The world renowned athlete, along with investors, are finally able to breathe a huge sigh of relief because after more than two years with failed bidding attempts, things are finally happening! This monumental partnership will allow Beckham ownership of nearly two-thirds of the nine-acre athletic field location.
According to Sprint’s CEO, as well as one of Beckham’s most trusted business partners, Marcelo Claure said, “We have the right site, the right ownership group, and a loyal base of fans counting down the days until our first match. We’re all-in on Overtown and we couldn’t be more excited about moving forward with plans to deliver the most responsible stadium in Miami history.”
Although this is great news for the 40-year-old model [Beckham], he is still in the early stages of actually seeing the stadium’s vision brought to life. The next step is to secure not only county approval, but city approval as well. It is the first of many breakthroughs in the right direction! On the other hand, we wonder how the longtime residents of Overtown feel about this mega move that is about to go down. In the meantime, check out the stadiums [possible] future game plan below.
