December is always a huge time for major film tycoons to unleash the years biggest blockbusters on the viewing public during the holiday season. It’s the perfect time for a fine cinematic adventure with the fam. Not to mention awards season is around the corner and all eyes are on the competition. It is going to be quite a month of movies folks, three of which have Best Picture Golden Globe nominations!
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18
In case you were born in a cave and didn’t know about the world takeover of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, here you have it: The new Star Wars installment takes place thirty years after defeating the Galactic Empire, where Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his allies face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his army of Stormtroopers. The whole crew is back including Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia who are joined by newbies Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) in a quest to save the universe.
Practically sisters in real life, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler play siblings Kate and Maura who throw an outrageous party at their parents house to capture the glory of their youth. As the raging party begins to spiral out of control, the gals soon realize that there may not be a house left to sell once the dust settles. It’s a must see if you and your sis are goofballs at heart.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23
With a stacked cast including Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling + an amazing true story = MIND BLOWN. This one is up for so many awards, including Best Picture, Best Lead Actor and Supporting Actor.
Synopsis: Four outsiders in the world of high-finance who predicted the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s decide to take on the big banks for their lack of foresight and greed.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 25 – CHRISTMAS DAY
