Fringe, flower crowns, and neon, oh my! It’s our favorite event of the year: Coachella!

The 2016 lineup is here as well as the butterfly’s in our stomach. Headlining this year are Guns N’ Roses, LCD Soundsystem and Calvin Harris.

Joining them on the stage will be Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack U, M83, Disclosure, Zedd, CHVRCHES, Ice Cube, Sia, A$AP Rocky, Major Lazer, The Chainsmokers, Flume, the 1975, Of Monsters and Men, and Matt & Kim among many many more.

The festival will be two weekends again. So mark your calendar for April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 6, 2016, @ 11 a.m. PST at Coachella.com. General admission is $399 and VIP admission is $899. It usually sells out fast so be sure to get there on time. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Coachella Fun Facts:

  • The festival was influenced by a Pearl Jam show in 1993 at the Empire Polo Club because the band was boycotting Ticketmaster and their associated venues. That show proved that the location was great for large scale events. The first official Coachella Festival was held in October 1999, then it became an annual festival in 2001.
  • The headliners for the first show were: Beck, the Chemical Brothers, Tool, Morrissey and Rage Against the Machine. Tickets were $50 a day for the two-day festival.
  • Coachella was nicknamed the “Anti-Woodstock because organizers booked acts based on artist quality rather than radio popularity.
  • Coachella didn’t make a profit until the third year.
  • The iconic Coachella Ferris Wheel is the world’s largest transportable Ferris wheel, second in size to the London Eye. It costs $5 to ride.
  • In 2014, Coachella grossed $78 million dollars, outranking the Gross Domestic Product of several small countries.
  • The most noteworthy appearances include: AC/DC, Amy Winehouse, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, Prince, Paul McCartney, Wu-Tang Clan, Coldplay, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Madonna, Kanye West, Eminem, The Strokes, The White Stripes, Jay-Z, Florence and the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters.
