Facebook Ditches the Like Button & Gives Us Emojis
Posted On Feb 24, 2016
The Facebook “like” is so 2015. Welcome to the next generation of Facebook, where we now have a whopping five emotions, “reaction buttons,” to express how we feel about our friend’s status updates.
Facebook is now acknowledging that a “like” isn’t always the right sentiment for every occasion. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post, “Not every moment you want to share is happy. Sometimes you want to share something sad or frustrating. Our community has been asking for a dislike button for years, but not because people want to tell friends they don’t like their posts. People want to express empathy and make it comfortable to share a wider range of emotions. Love is the most popular reaction so far.”
With no further adieu, ladies and gentlemen here are your new Facebook emojis:
Like for when you want to show support, or acknowledge that you’ve seen something. Although, a like is so yesterday now, that it’s pretty much out of pity.
Love for when you start to feel real, actual feelings of happiness after reading a status. Perfect timing for when Leo wins his Oscar this Sunday.
Haha for when you actually laughed so hard your ass fell off or for if Tina Fey and Amy Poehler make a joint Facebook account.
Wow for all the people out there who are passionate about changing the world and helping others. Example, Wow that’s one less person who cares about what color lipstick Kylie Jenner wore today.
Sad for when people are going through a tough time in their lives. We aren’t talking about the boy that didn’t text you back (please don’t share that with Facebook) were talking about the loss of someone close or the fact that Kesha can’t escape her raper due to a contract.
Angry for when Kanye goes on ANOTHER unwarranted rant about something pointless while there’s still a water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
There you have it my friends, the low down on your new Facebook feels. Go emoji crazy and let your Facebook friends know how you really feel. *Haha Emoji *
