Harrison Ford Returns in ‘Indiana Jones 5’
Posted On Mar 16, 2016
Indian Jones lives to see another day! Just recently Disney announced that Harrison Ford will be reprising his iconic role as archeologist badass Indiana Jones in the fifth installment of the series. Steven Spielberg, who directed the last four films, will be returning as well. The film won’t be released until July 2019 and has not yet been titled. But worry not, they certainly have the ball rolling! (See what I did there.)
Reports are saying that Spielberg has expressed interest in Chris Pratt joining joining. This makes sense as Pratt was hand-picked by Spielberg for Jurassic World (2015). It looks like things are still at the beginning phases but we’re just excited that this is even happening!
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Ford and Spielberg kicked off the film series in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, a movie that featured Indiana Jones up against Nazis. His adventures continued throughout the ’80s, with Temple of Doom coming out in 1984 and The Last Crusade in 1989. After nearly two decades without a new Indiana Jones adventure, a fourth installment was added, 2008’s critically-bombed Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Harrison must have caught the bug from returning to his beloved Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Cannot wait until he cracks his whip and sports his brawny brown fedora hat!
… Oh, and the snakes! I hope they throw in lots of snakes.
