Kennedy Center Awards Gala Astonishing Honorees

Stars, legends and the President himself, showed up at the 38th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts over the weekend. This year’s honorees included five of the most respected influencers in music and film of the century. They changed the game forever: singer-songwriter Carole King, filmmaker George Lucas, actress and singer Rita Moreno, conductor Seiji Ozawa, and actress and Broadway star Cicely Tyson.

The First Lady Michelle Obama was minus one as the President had a late arrival due to his speech to the nation on the mass shooting in San Bernardino and terrorism. But the night progressed filling the room with political, business and entertainment titans.

A mix of Hollywood’s elite included legendary singers, actors, producers, directors all of which have either been nominated for an Emmy/Grammy/Oscar award or already have a stacked fireplace mantle. Guests included: Host of the event Stephen Colbert (seen below arriving with his daughter), Usher, Clive Davis Aretha Franklin, Miranda Lambert, Janelle Monáe, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis and Tyler Perry.
