Matthew Perry Forgot Years of ‘Friends’ due to Substance Abuse

We all can’t wait for the upcoming Friends reunion next month. There’s been talk of a Friends reunion for years and finally, the whole cast (minus Matthew Perry) is reuniting for a tribute to James Burrows. On Sunday, we were given a sneak peek, when Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory, uploaded a photo to Instagram of the Big Bang Theory cast and Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. All of the actors and actresses were in attendance to honor the sitcom director.
But recent news revealed that one of our favorite Friends, Chandler Bing, aka Matthew Perry, admitted that he forgot years of filming Friends because of his substance abuse problems. Perry said he can’t remember three years of filming the hit sitcom.
After being asked on BBC Radio 2 which episode was his least favorite, he answered “Oh my goodness. I think the answer is I don’t remember three years of it,” adding “a little bit of the time, I was a little bit out of it, yeah.”
Fans are pretty upset Perry is the only “friend” missing from the highly anticipated reunion. It’s been 12 years since we’ve seen the cast together and we were so close to getting them all. According to Perry’s rep, he is unable to attend the reunion because he’s in London rehearsing for his play, “The End of Longing.” Don’t worry, though; NBC said, “they will likely use something from Perry for the tribute.”
Well, at least, we are getting closer to a full Friends reunion. Maybe one of the cast members will get married again and they can reunite there. Until then, we just dream of season 11 of Friends.
