The Rendezvous: Your Weekly Review in a Few

It is officially the weekend, meaning The Rendezvous is back! A lot of soul-wrenching things happened this week, including Beyoncé’s Lemonade, the East Coast primaries, and a black out in Venezuela. Read up before you drink up this weekend!

Five Day Weekends in Venezuela

Venezuela has shortened its work week to just Monday and Tuesday, which might sound ideal to some of us but that is definitely not the case here. Venezuela’s in the middle of an epic drought that’s got its hydroelectric dams running on empty, they literally can’t afford to keep the lights on for more than two days a week. This news comes after the fact that the country has also already been going through a 4-hour a day blackout to help save power. Venezuela has been crisis-ridden for a long time now but this has to be the breaking point. Street riots and protests are at an all time high, and the people want to kick Maduro out of office.

This week Trump slaughtered the Republican primaries in five East Coast states. He won well over 50% in each state. Clinton won in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, and Delaware, while Bernie Bern won in Rhode Island. Here is a quick recap of what happened on Super Tuesday. Trump thinks he’s already won the presidency, because “the only thing she [Hillary Clinton] has got going for her is that she is a woman, and woman don’t like her.” Hillary extended an olive branch to Bernie supporters. “We will unify our party to win this election and build an America where we can all rise together, an America where we lift each other up instead of tearing each other down,” said Clinton in Philadelphia. The Republicans are clearly warming up to Trump, on an exit poll 70% said they want to see the person who wins the primary win the election. And lastly, Sander’s turned to the superdelegates with a pitch for their vote. “What we are seeing are national polls which have us 15 or 20 points ahead of Donald Trump- far more than Secretary Clinton,” he said at a rally in Huntington, West Virginia.

This is a big week in music, Beyoncé dropped her album Lemonade that sparked rumors galore, a plethora of Internet memes and so so many questions. Who is Becky with the good hair? And who are we swinging the hot sauce bat at? Jay Z? Her dad? The entire male species? Whoever it may be, we will definitely have the album on repeat for a while, if you have Tidal, that is.

Today Drake released his Views From the Six album on Apple Music. The world was enamored with “One Dance”, as well as his If You’re Reading This Its Too Late mixtape so hopefully this one proves to be a hit. Kesha also released her new hit “True Colors” produced by Zedd. This is the first new music Kesha has released since her civil suit with Dr. Luke and you can clearly tell the two are related. Kesha tweeted “This is more than a song. Its my declaration of truth #TrueColors.” We have a lot of listening to do this weekend!

Don’t Block Him on IG Just Yet, Mercury is in Retrograde

As of yesterday, April 28th, Mercury has officially entered retrograde. According to astrologists, Mercury’s retrograde negatively affects communications, technology, business, and travel. We are told not to sign any contracts or important documents, not to go on a first date, or to make any major purchases during this time.  So basically, Mercury is your scapegoat for anything that goes wrong in the next couple weeks. During this time, Mercury appears to slow down and reverse. This happens 3-4 times a year when Mercury catches up to Earth’s orbit. So, maybe don’t jump into a big project or socially unfollow someone  until after May 22nd.
