Save Your Hooha and Buy Organic Tampons

The bloating, the cramps, and the mood swings. (Uh oh) I know where this is going and so do you. That pesky monthly visitor has taken up residence for the next few days. Thank goodness for tampons, right?
In the world of feminine hygiene, specifically tampons, three brands dominate the market: Tampax, Playtex, and Kotex are reasonably-priced and they get the job done. These brands make it to our bathroom pantries, insert, ahem (you know where), and let it do its thing. So simple, but all is not as it seems (is it ever nowadays? #NoFilter..right.)
Anyway, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is something every woman should know. According to www.bustle.com , the average woman will use more than 11,500 tampons in her life. Yikes. Honestly, how many of us sit and contemplate the makings of a tampon? (Crickets) Most tampons are made from a cotton or rayon-cotton blend. Rayon is a synthetic fiber made from wood pulp and although cotton is natural, it is bioengineered and grown with pesticides and fertilizers. Furthermore, the rayon and cotton undergo a bleaching process, which releases an environmental pollutant and known carcinogenic, dioxins. Say what? Yup, this is what we’ve been sticking up our “hooha.”
Before we get our panties in a bunch, literally, I have two words: organic tampons! We put organic food in our mouths, so why should it be any different “down under?” Organic tampons are chlorine-free, do not contain synthetic materials or any chemical additives such as fragrances and dyes. Choosing fully certified organic cotton removes the pesticides and fertilizers commonly used on conventionally grown cotton.
Here are some organic labels to look out for:
The average organic brand may be a bit pricier, but you’ll get more bang for your buck. #KeepItClassy
