Leonardo DiCaprio: This One Could Be the Winner
Posted On Dec 04, 2015
As Oscar season approaches, the buzz about Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance in The Revenant have blasted across headlines.
The movie is about an 1823 expedition of the uncharted American wilderness. DiCaprio plays an explorer and fur trapper, Hugh Glass, who is attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his hunting team. The movie follows Glass’ navigation of a vicious winter to survive.
Stories of Leonardo DiCaprio’s endurance on the set of The Revenant have put him in the spotlight.
“I was sleeping in animal carcasses,” the actor told Yahoo.
Due to the extreme conditions while filming The Revenant, he told Variety, “It was the most difficult film, I think, that any of us had ever made.”
Crew members told the The Hollywood Reporter that the shoot was “a living hell.” Some even ended up quitting or getting fired.
The hype reached levels of ridiculous proportions with the Drudge Report headline, “DICAPRIO RAPED BY BEAR IN FOX MOVIE.” Yikes!
From all this jarring media clout, the one titanic question remains: whether all the physical pain DiCaprio endured will help him finally win his first Oscar.
According to the showbiz experts, DiCaprio has solidified his lead in the Best Actor race over Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs. He also humped ahead of Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl and Johnny Depp in Black Mass.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been Team DiCaprio since the Gilbert Grape (1993) era and I’m not about to give up now. If getting manhandled by a grizzly bear won’t do it, I don’t know what will.
