TIME 100 Gala

Leonardo DiCaprio, MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra, and presidential front-runner Donald Trump all top the list of this year’s 100 Most Influential People by TIME Magazine. The fun of shaping the list is sharing the vision of people exploring the frontiers of art, science, society, and technology.

Last night, the influential winners were honored at the annual TIME 100 Gala in New York City. Stars, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, world leaders, and many more lined the red carpet to celebrate a night of inspiration.

A few notable moments included comedian and actress Melissa McCarthy’s opening toast which scored some laughs and even a heartfelt moment or two. At first, she pretended as though she was hosting the ESPY’s saying, ‘Obviously everyone in this room is known for their physical prowess…’ lol! Then she went on to acknowledge the greatness and courage of her fellow influencers.

“I think at some way along the road so many people in this room were told “you can’t do that. That’s not how you should think. You’re doing it wrong. You’re nuts. You’re crazy. That’s not how we do things. That’s not acceptable, there’s a way to do it”,’ she said.

“And in one way or another, everybody in this room simply forged ahead. And thinking outside the box like that will change the world.”

A few other inspiring speeches were lead by Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege, and Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, who led a toast to Prince, “arguably the best artist of all time.”

Nicki Minaj closed the ceremony with an energetic performance of “The Crying Game,” “Feeling Myself” and “Truffle Butter,” then oddly mixed in some political rhetoric. The rapper threw in some Joe Biden and Donald Trump lyrics and soon after, paused for a moment to salute the attending “independent women” who “got your own money in the bank” and “don’t need a man to buy you a car or a house.”

Sounds like a night to remember!

2016 TIME Most Influential People

TIME Magazine writes: ‘One way or another they each embody a breakthrough: they broke the rules, broke the record, broke the silence, broke the boundaries to reveal what we’re capable of. They are seekers, with a fearless willingness to be surprised by what they find.’

Congratulations to all those who made this year’s most influential people list and thank you TIME for reminding us what life has in store for those who think differently, push limits, and know no bounds.
