Beauty Tip: A Quick RX For Over-Exfoliating
Posted On Apr 16, 2012
If you emerge from an exfoliating session looking like a lobster, it’s probably because you removed not only the dead skin cells sitting atop your face, but also the healthy cells beneath. Ouch! The best way to soothe your raw skin is to apply a cool washcloth and then a thick, unscented moisturizer to help calm things down. Avoid using anything containing retinoids or heavy fragrances for the next few days and don’t even think about dabbing on a toner as it can further irritate or even burn the tender new skin. Things should revert to normal within a day or two, but if they don’t improve within a week, see your dermatologist pronto.
Beauty Tip: If you over-exfoliate, limit your regimen to moisturizers for a few days.
