Luckily, we chatted with world-renowned celeb hairstylist Janet Zeitoun on low-key sustainable ways to keep your hair in tip-top shape. Zeitoun’s distinctive hair designs paralleled with a career spanning nearly 20 years has solidified her status as the go-to hair care guru for Hollywood A-listers such as Janet Jackson, Denzel Washington, and the late Michael Jackson.

First things first, according to Ms. Zeitoun, “Let your hair go a few extra days between washing. This allows your hair to take advantage of its natural oils for a little bit longer.  Heating systems, like curling and flat irons can have a very drying effect on the hair during this season. Also, remember to hydrate, as the bitter winter months can be weapons of destruction for your hair.”

Let’s not forget, when you’re out shopping for others to pick up a little something for yourself! A chic fedora is a must-have this year and Zeitoun admits rockin’ a fierce hat this holiday season can give your tresses a much-needed break. Not to mention, it definitely amplifies your glam game to the next level.

Something else to keep in mind, when your hair becomes unmanageable from built up debris, a good dry shampoo serves as a quick fix that will instantly get the job done! It’s great to use for a beautiful updo but it also adds massive volume to your hair. Zeitoun suggests using one of the prestige products from her very own hair care line SOTAH (State Of The Art Hair) after a dry shampoo in order to hydrate and illuminate your hairs natural shine.

Similar to the likes of Beyoncé to Chrissy Teigen, Zeitoun says a top-knot or loose messy bun is another great way to give your hair a deserved break from the extensive heat of flat irons and blow dryers. Always remember to keep your ponytail at or below ear level for best results.

Now that you have the tools and essentials to fulfill all of your holiday hair care needs from one of the best in the biz, it’s time to show off your killer hair skills this time of year.
