Life Hacks as Told by Whitney Port

Today is the 10-year anniversary of The Hills, the show that consumed our teenage years and made us feel like we were all California girls at heart.

Not only did it pave the way for reality television but it also pushed us to want the successful careers that stars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port had.

It is now 10 years later, and Whitney Port’s career has only gone upwards. She took the fashion world by storm and turned her career in PR into her own fashion brand. She is the owner and designer of her line Whitney Eve, she curates and writes a fashion and lifestyle blog, WhitneyPort.com, and she just had the most beautiful wedding where she married the man of her dreams. It’s safe to say we can learn a thing or two from this powerhouse.

We got to sit down with the successful starlet herself while she spilled on everything from friendship to fashion to exercise.

On friendship:

“Sixty-five percent of women consider their best friends to be their heroes and I couldn’t agree more. Embracing girl time has led to a lot of my success and I’m confident it can do the same for many like-minded women. We’re really trying to make girl time more fun because we all know how crazy life can get, and we don’t always make time, but when we do just think how much better we feel afterward.”

On exercise:

When asked what her preferred method of exercise was, she preached “spinning over yoga.”

On fashion:

“For me, I always gravitate towards printed clothing. I love to mix and match with it and that is what my line is all about. It’s all about either being matchy-matchy or pairing one print with another. The best looks can be worn with a denim jacket during the day or a moto jacket out at night.”

On wedding planning:

“Don’t sweat the small stuff. I know everyone says that but you really have to get your priorities straight. You have to choose what’s important to you so that you don’t get so caught up in all the details and miss what’s actually happening.”
