ModCloth’s Groundbreaking Swimwear Campaign
Posted On May 05, 2016
Still on the brink of their highly publicized anti-Photoshop pledge, fashion retailer ModCloth is making headlines once again. In their latest swimwear campaign, the body-positive company showcases their employees and regular customers, varying in shapes and sizes, rocking the latest swimwear from their personalized High Dive by ModCloth collection. From retro one-pieces to high-waisted bikinis it is refreshing to witness a company take an active stand against body shaming, unrealistic images, and unhealthy body ideals.
During a recent interview with TODAY.com, co-founder of the site, Susan Gregg Koger stated, “At the end of the day, it’s not about unreal women and real women — we’re all real women, we all have bodies, and when we put swimsuits on, we all have swimsuit bodies.”
To put it all in perspective, Koger’s primary objective with this year’s photo shoot was to further reiterate ModCloth’s mission of being able to fully celebrate and embrace all women’s bodies within the realm of fashion advertising. She further stated, “This is still an important conversation. If you look around on social media and at everything that’s been happening — Amy Schumer calling out Glamour for putting her in the plus-size issue… the conversation is definitely still relevant.” Here at New You, we could not agree more!
With that being said, ladies be happy with the skin that you are in. If you don’t have ah-mazing abs like J. Lo or the perfect Hollywood bod like Beyoncé, it’s OK. Work with what you have but just be sure to flaunt it and own it with major confidence and style.
