Natural Remedies For All Hair Problems
Posted On Jun 13, 2016
Itchy scalps, hair strands on the floor, and lifeless hair are three of many of the issues women face with their tresses. While we would all love to be able to simply brush our hair into place like our male counterparts, we just aren’t as lucky.
The thing is, even though it can be fairly easy to find products for pretty much all of our hair needs, the tricky part comes into play when we have to decide which product is actually right for us.
So we buy something that smells divine and has the perfect packaging, only to realize it did nothing for us other than making our vanity prettier. Then we go through the process of exchanging it for something that will probably yield the same results.
Ughh. Hair Gods, help a sista’ out, PLEASE!
Rather than going through that unnecessary process of trial and error, the answer may be sitting right in your pantry. Kitchen items aren’t only beneficial for the skin, but they can also save us from a series of bad hair days.
Hair Problem: Dandruff
Method: When this beauty blogger claimed that Listerine mouth wash was her go-to solution for dandruff, it took the digital world by storm. Simply mix some Listerine with water in a spray bottle and lightly spritz your scalp after washing as usual. After letting it sit for a few moments, rinse hair our without using shampoo, and voila! Your scalp will be dandruff free. You can also use any other mouthwash, but try and stick to one that has tea-tree in it.
Hair Problem: Dry & Dull Hair
Solution: Olive Oil
Method: Put moisture back into your hair by heating up a ½ cup of olive oil and massaging it into your scalp. Cover hair with a plastic cap and let the oil deeply penetrate your scalp for 30-45 minutes. Once the cap is off, rinse and wash as usual.
Hair Problem: Split Ends
Solution: Eggs, Honey, & Olive Oil
Method: Combine one egg with a tbsp. of honey and a tbsp. of an oil of your choice. Apply this mixture to your scalp and hair and leave on for 30 minutes under a plastic cap followed by your regular wash routine. Olive oil is crucial in sealing the ends of your hair, while the eggs and honey will prevent damage and retain moisture.
Hair Problem: Frizzy Hair
Method: An avocado hair mask is an extremely effective remedy to control frizzy hair. The high level of vitamin E helps to tame the frizz. Also, one of the main causes of brittle hair is lack of moisture so avocado masks are also a great way to retain hair moisture. Simply mash one ripe avocado and add a bit of olive oil as well. Shampoo your hair, then apply the mixture evenly throughout your locks. Rinse with cold water after leaving the mixture in your hair for 30 minutes to an hour.
Hair Problem: Oily Hair
Solution: Baking Soda & Plain Yogurt
Method: Oily hair can look lifeless, limp, and weighed down. Mix together one tsp. of baking soda with one tbsp. of plain yogurt. Apply throughout the hair, focusing on the roots and let sit in the hair for 15 to 20 minutes. Shampoo and condition after, preferably with a gentle shampoo formulated to control sebum.
