Our Skin and Hair Care Regime Should Include…

We’ve all heard that healthy hair, skin, and nails start from within so drink more water and eat less pizza, right? But studies have shown that even with a healthy diet we’re not truly getting all the nutrients necessary to promote the fuller hair and glowing skin we all desire.

Tymeka Lawrence, founder and CEO of Brock Beauty, clarifies that vitamins are the secret to filling these gaps, particularly the supplements that already contain essential ingredients in one convenient capsule.

Beauty vitamins are not created equal, so we have gone to Tymeka to learn more about the eight key ingredients to look for when shopping for a healthy hair, skin, and nail motivator.

Vitamin A: Out of all the vitamins, Vitamin A does the most work. It contains antioxidants that work to condition and moisturize the sebum in the scalp. It fights free radicals that weigh down your hair while strengthening and thickening your hair so you see less breakage. It also can help reduce wrinkles, fade brown spots, and smooth roughness in skin.

Vitamin B Complex: B vitamins are a true powerhouse when grouped together. With them you can expect to see a reduction in hair loss, less grays, longer hair, and a lot more shine. The great thing about taking a B complex is that it also minimizes redness and inhibits the transfer of pigment to skin cells, fading dark spots.

Vitamin E: Renowned for its abilities to soften the skin, vitamin E is essential for healthy hair because it helps with blood circulation that leads to a healthier scalp. You can expect to see softer hair and fewer split ends. Studies also show that when it’s used before UV exposure, skin is less red, swollen, and dry.

Folic Acid: Typically found in whole grains, folic acid works to make your hair thicker, shinier, and add moisture.

Iron: Women of child-bearing ages or those who don’t eat a lot of red meat tend to be deficient in iron. Iron carries oxygen to hair and promotes growth.

Vitamin D: This is essential for hair follicle cycling, especially for individuals who live in the northern part of the United States where sunlight is limited.

Vitamin C: This is proven to clear up the free radicals that trigger wrinkling, sagging, and other aging changes. Vitamin C also helps smooth and firm skin and fade sun spots. While Vitamin A and C sound similar, using both together delivers more complexion perfection.

Biotin: Sufficient quantities of biotin have been known as a key element in maintaining healthy hair, skin, and nails. Indications of hair loss, skin irritation, fungus, or eczema are typically symptoms of biotin deficiencies.
