Perfume Right

NEW YOU Beauty Tip: Stop rubbing your perfume!

The sight of a woman pressing her wrists together after a perfume spritz is common place – and also completely wrong according to Givaudan perfumer, Yann Vasnier. Why? A common myth is that the rubbing motion tears apart the fragrance’s molecules, thus destroying its scent. The truth is that perfumes give off their scent through evaporation, and the warmer the body the faster the evaporation. When you rub, your skin’s oils mixes with the fragrances and generates heat that changes the rate of evaporation – thus altering the original scent . For flawless application, spritz your wrists, neck and cleavage – then put your hands up and walk away. What’s left behind is untouched scent!
