The Return of the Gilmore Girls
Posted On Mar 18, 2016
Well, it’s time to pack our bags and head back to Stars Hollow. Netflix and chill just got pushed all the way up on my to-do list. It’s finally been confirmed that the beloved series, Gilmore Girls, is making its comeback with a miniseries on Netflix stated to premiere soon.
*Breaks out in happy dance*
We first heard news of the possible return of TV’s most adored mother-daughter duo back in October. Luckily, fans everywhere can finally be at ease as Lauren Graham took to Instagram to confirm the big news.
Now that we know Lauren will be back, what about the others? Let’s do a Stars Hollow roll call, shall we?
When the Gilmore Girls revival was officially announced, Alexis Bledel (Rory), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Lauren Graham (Lorelai), and Scott Patterson (Luke), were all confirmed for all four episodes. It looks like we’ll definitely be having a true reunion indeed.
Unfortunately, Melissa McCarthy, who played Lorelai’s BFF chef, has confirmed she will not be a part of the new miniseries. When promoting her new film, The Boss, Melissa was asked by Marc Malkin from E! News about her appearance on the upcoming series.
“I don’t think I am,” she said. “I didn’t actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy and then by the time it did come up, I actually was.”
But don’t worry, there’s no bad blood there. Melissa still shared her excitement for the return of the show as well.
“I’m actually thrilled that it’s happening,” she says. “I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them.”
Well, that’s a real bummer. Who could ever replace the quirky Sookie? I guess we’ll all be finding out soon. Until then, I’ll be dreaming about ordering take out and snuggling up on the couch pretending to be right there with Lorelai and Rory. #superfanmoment
