Wolfgang Puck Serves Up Stars’ Favorites at the 2016 Governors Ball

Not everyone who hungers for a golden Oscar statuette is guaranteed to get one tonight, however those who crave Wolfgang Puck’s signature culinary creations are sure to go home with their stomachs satisfied.

The celebrated chef is catering the film industry’s biggest night for the 22nd year in a row at the post-ceremony Governors Ball and some of the A-list crowd’s favorites have made the menu.

Wolfgang is serving his famous chicken pot pie, beloved by Barbra Streisand and a comfort food certain to soothe the most disconsolate of Oscars losers. John Travolta’s adored mac and cheese will make an appearance and stars can get ready to salivate over the smoked salmon pizza, favored by Best Supporting Actor nominee Sylvester Stallone who, according to Wolfgang, loves it when the salmon is cut to look like mini Oscar statues.

Alejandro González Iñárritu is poised to win back-to-back Best Directing nods for The Revenant, but Wolfgang’s focus is on winning over the Mexican filmmaker’s palate. He is preparing a fish Veracruz for Alejandro so in the chef’s words, “he feels at home.”

Wolfgang described the dish in mouth-watering detail saying, “It’s sauteed onions, bell peppers, and then a little touch of garlic, and some tomato sauce, some jalapeño, obviously. Then some capers and olives. I put in some oregano, and we cook the fish on top of the sauce like that. We bake it in the oven, and it comes out really tasty.”

After weeks of following rigid diets to fit into their designer Oscars gowns, most starlets will jump at the chance to finally indulge themselves with Wolfgang’s cuisine, likely busting a few seams in the process. For those with inflexible dietary restrictions, the Spago founder is creating a still indulgent-sounding vegan dish of rice with mushrooms, truffles, English peas and a spinach puree.
