Posted On Dec 14, 2015
Benjamin Millepied, renowned dancer, choreographer and founder of LA Dance Project, talks exclusively with New You at the LA Dance Project Benefit. He participated in the benefit’s performance after being off the stage for a while. Millepied says, “It was a great pleasure, it wasn’t an easy dance.”
Millepied is most famous for his work in Black Swan. He choreographed every graceful moment and played Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis’ dance partner after he volunteered himself for the role. Besides, acting, dancing and choreographing, we can add sweet talking to the the list of Millepied’s many talents. While filming Black Swan Millepied hit it off with co-star Natalie Portman. The two got married on August 4, 2012, and have a 4-year-old son, Aleph. Millepied also founded the non-profit, LA Dance Project in 2012, which is an artist collective that aims to encourage influential collaborations with prominent dancers and choreographers.
Recently, Millepied took his talents backstage in his new role as Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet. “It’s very very challenging, but the response is good right now. It’s constant work and there’s a long way to go for me to feel really good about it,” says Millepied.
We would love to see Natalie and Benjamin work together again in the future so we asked if that was a possibility. Millepied replied, “You never know. It’s hard to pick up a collaboration after doing one thing together that was so successful. It just has to be the right thing, and maybe that will come about.” We will be keeping our fingers crossed.
