Hayden Panettiere Takes a Holistic Approach In Her Battle With Postpartum Depression

Nashville Star, Hayden Panettiere has candidly shared her experience battling postpartum depression and now she’s opened up once more.

The country singer took to Twitter to explain that she will be reflecting holistically on her life in an effort to completely heal.

Holistic medicine is a form of healing that takes the whole person into consideration. The body, mind, spirit, and emotions are all focused on in an attempt to be wholly healthy. The primary goal of this practice is to gain proper balance in life. Panettiere gave birth to her daughter, Kaya Evdokia in December 2014 with fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. She discussed the struggle of her condition and her belief that it is something that can be healed. “I can very much relate. It’s something a lot of women experience. When you’re told about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.” She then went on to clear up any misconceptions about postpartum depression. “There’s a lot of misunderstanding, there’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real, that it’s not true, that it’s something that’s made up in their minds, that ‘Oh, it’s hormones.’ They brush it off. It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable. It’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support.” Approximately 20% of women experience severe postpartum depression after giving birth, which is known as a mood disorder that affect new mothers. Mothers with postpartum depression experience feelings of extreme sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion that may make it difficult for them to complete daily care activities for themselves or for others. New You had the opportunity to speak to actress Brooke Shields about her own battle with postpartum depression.  We wish Hayden the best of luck on her new journey to healing and so do her fans.
