Peter Facinelli and Jaimie Alexander Call Off Their Engagement

The engagement is off for Peter Facinelli and Jaimie Alexander. The Supergirl actor and the Blindspot star have ended their relationship after three years of dating.
Long distance proved a romance-killer once again as the split was attributed to the former couple’s busy schedules. Jaimie’s representative released a statement confirming the break-up, saying, “Due to conflicting family and work commitments on opposite coasts, and after much consideration, Peter and Jaimie have chosen to part ways amicably and remain good friends.”
After becoming engaged following a romantic proposal on the top of the Empire State Building, the former couple spent most of the past year apart. Jaimie shoots Blindspot in New York City while Peter films his recurring role as Supergirl billionaire Maxwell Lord on the show’s LA set.
Work commitments aside, the Twilight actor also has family ties keeping him on the West Coast. Peter shares custody of his three children with his ex-wife, Beverly Hills 90210 actress Jennie Garth, whom he divorced in 2013, and remains very actively involved in their lives.
Peter and Jaimie met on the set of the 2011 romantic drama Loosies, which Peter co-wrote, and shared the screen again in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. Eventually, their friendship turned romantic. Jaimie also bonded with Peter’s daughters Luca, Lola and Fiona, appearing at red carpet events with them and taking them shopping and to school before her role in Blindspot required her to spend most of her time in New York.
However, the strain that long-distance placed on the former couple’s relationship began to show during their last public appearance together at a Golden Globes after-party in January. Though the two seemed as affectionate as ever, Jaimie said they were too busy to make wedding plans.
While Peter and Jaimie’s romance may have hit the rocks, it will comfort fans that it seems their longtime friendship remains intact.
