Coke Launches Lyrics You Know On a Can

In the next phase of its “Share a Coke” campaign, Coca Cola will put song lyrics on packaging pulled from more than 70 popular songs. The campaign, called “Share a Coke and a Song,” will be supported by music-themed TV spots, social media, and a summer-long experiential tour that begins with an event at this weekend’s Final Four.
The cola giant has utilized the power of social media by engaging music apps and Facebook to spread the love. Coke plans to extend its campaign to mobile by encouraging consumers to use the Shazam app to scan the specially marked 20-ounce bottles. That will allow users to record a 15-second “digital lip-sync video” that can be shared on social media using the hashtag #ShareaCoke, according to the brand.
From the Coke website, the brand expressed their reasoning behind the song choices. The team selected lyrics that capture a moment and reflect Coke’s brand values of optimism, refreshment and inclusion. From the Coke website, the brand expressed their reasoning behind the song choices.
“This isn’t about sharing a Coke and your favorite song… we didn’t focus on greatest hits or trending tracks,” Belliotti said. “We picked lyrics that inspire connection. Our goal was to create a list that appeals to diverse tastes, so every music fan can feel there’s at least one lyric that speaks to them. We ended up with a cross-section of universal songs that express a range of positive sentiments.”
Lyrics cover a range of music, from rock ‘n’ roll classics like Queen’s “We are the Champions” to modern jams “All I Do is Win” by DJ Khaled.
We decided to come up with a few of our own lyrics that we’d like to see on the “Share a Coke and a Song” campaign:
I Love It When You Call Me Big Papa
I Want It That Way
Near Far Wherever You Are
I Got Hot Sauce in My Bag… Swag
OMG Becky Look at Her Butt
Turn Down for What
I Like Girls That Wear Abercrombie & Fitch
So Tell Me What You Want, What You Really Really Want
Hey Now You’re an All-star
My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard
Hey What’s Up Hello
Jet Planes, Islands, Tigers on a Gold Leash
Go Shawty It’s Your Birthday
I Wanna Dance with Somebody
