ALI TAMPOSI on reaching that sweet spot in songwriting and how the process develops

Songwriter, Ali Tamposi, has plenty to say about the negative effects social media has on personal relationships. “Social media makes it very hard to find your true self – it puts a lot of pressure on all generations,” said the Florida songwriter.  “Find ways to connect with people that are not through social media.  NEW YOU caught up with Tamposi at the BMI Icon Award at the 65th Annual BMI Pop Awards on Tuesday in Los Angeles. She is very grateful that BMI puts on this event each year as she feels songwriters also deserve recognition.  She is best known for co-writing Kelly Clarkson’s song, Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) and DJ Snake’s, Let Me Love You. Tamposi has written for many artists including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato and One Direction. Tamposi also explained the songwriting process to NEW YOU “I usually write with Brian Lee and Andrew Watt,” she explains. “We all talk about our own shit of what’s going on that day.  Andrew will come up with a crazy forward progression and we all shoot out melodies, pick the best ones and then talk about a concept before finding that sweet spot that gives you the chills.” She finds it very stimulating as a writer to express her story without having to be an artist. “I am so grateful to wake up each day and write a song.”
