When it comes to what viewers can expect in Season 2 of Netflix’s re-imagining of the classic Norman Lear 1970’s sitcom, One day at a Time, Isabella Gomez says we can expect some interesting twists and turns. “Some new relationships, a lot about the political climate and a lot of activism,” said the Columbian born actress. NEW YOU caught up with Gomez at the premiere of One Day at a Time in Los Angeles. The sitcom has been re-purposed to focus on the lives of a Cuban – American family. Gomez says the whole crew is like family. “I participated on a panel discussion with the whole crew when we all heard that the show was picked up for a second season,’ she laughed. On defining moments in season one, Gomez said that Episode 13 was for her a standout. “Those last five minutes were huge because the whole LGBTQ story was very accepting all the way through and to have that shock was incredible,” she said. “Even as an actress, just being up there and not seeing dad at the chair was insane – that was the biggest.” When it comes to being healthy, Gomez says she continues to learn. “I learned how important it is to eat a little more when you are working out, because your body needs it,” said the actress. “People always combine exercise with dieting and they don’t realize how your body goes into shock. It thinks you are starving it – that’s why you don’t see any results. You have got to eat.” Oh and her favorite snack is a protein milkshake.
