When it comes to horse racing actor Jeff Bridges has experienced a little inside knowledge. “Years ago I made that movie, Seabiscuit, so I got a taste of this world, but to be here at the heart of everything is really something,” he said. “I am going for Always Dreaming.” The horse, Always Dreaming, did win the 143rd Kentucky Derby held at Churchill Downs, Kentucky this past weekend. It was a celebrity filled day peppered with mint juleps and red roses up down the freshly mowed green grass. Asked what made him choose Always Dreaming as his winning horse, Bridges came up with quite the logical reason. “I am into the sleeping thing,” he laughed. “I put out an album years ago called Sleeping Tapes, so that name spoke to me.” Among the other celebrities attending the action-packed day, were actor Justin Hartley and his fiancé Chrishelle Straus. It was the actor’s first time attending the Kentucky Derby and he certainly rose to the occasion with a colorful bowtie. “I am wearing something different in the spirit of the Derby to try and fit in,” he smiled. Straus was quick to agree that her fiancé looked fabulous. “Also, nothing beats the roar of the crowd at the end of the race,” she added. “And they’re off!!” shouted Bridges in perfect tone and delivery to the paparazzi.
