NICOLE KIDMAN RELATES TO HER ROLE AS AN ADOPTIVE MOTHER IN ‘LION’

Nicole Kidman acknowledges that she felt aligned with her role as an adoptive mother, in the movie Lion. The film, which hit theaters last month, tells the true story of an Indian boy who, at 30, searches for his birth-family after being adopted by an Australian woman, Sue Brierley, 25 years earlier. “I suddenly found this woman who was able to express feelings that I did not have the words for and she was able to express that in that role,” said the talented actress. “That is a fantastic thing for an actor when you find things that are deeply aligned with the things that are inside of you.”  Kidman was honored with the International Star Award for her role as Sue Brierley, in Lion last night at the 28th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala.  Dressed in a flowing feminine pink gown, the actress was joined by her Lion co-star, Dev Patel who spoke admiringly about Kidman.  “Even though she constantly lives under a microscope what I see is intelligence and composure,” he added.  Kidman also reflected on being at the Palm Springs International Film Festival twelve years ago with her father.  Thinking of all the milestones since then – her children and being with the “love of her life” (Keith Urban) now, Kidman was quick to add how the festival was an occasion to mark time and say “wow look what happened.”
