There is nothing better than passionate people getting together to support a great cause. This past Saturday Brooks Brothers Beverly Hills hosted a benefit party for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Many celebrities attended the event and donated to the hospital while sporting Brooks Brothers latest summer line. NEW YOU caught up with Yara Shahidi, star of Blackish to hear her thoughts on the event as well as her upcoming plans for the summer. “I love the fact that they [Brooks Brothers] partner with St. Jude and that they’re having this event, to not only donate to St. Jude but just to unite so many people together for a great cause.” She summed it up pretty well, the event featured many celebrities including Chris Sullivan, Peyton List, Jade Pettyjohn, Dan Bucatinsky, Jessie Usher and more! The camp-themed party had all the bells and whistles with an outfitting area, crafts, candy and a photo booth.
Yara plays “Zoey Johnson” the 17-year-old daughter on Blackish who is known as the popular, socially active member of the Johnson family. In 2016 she was recognized as TV’s “Breakout Star” at the Teen Choice Awards from her work on the show. Blackish airs on ABC and she is over-the-moon excited to start shooting in July. On May 10, 2017, ABC renewed the show for another season, after already completing three seasons. Brooks Brothers fitted Yara with some very trendy pink shorts and pullover. She told NEW YOU, “They know my style and I think what I love so much about this collection is that you get all of that summer color and you can customize it. So you can go with the super classic cuts or you can do something a little more unorthodox.” If you go online right now, for every purchase from the St. Jude Butterfly Collection, Brooks Brothers will donate $10 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
