Who would have thought that giving up certain foods would help you look better? Gluten, a protein found in wheat and dominant in many processed foods, is considered the evil of all evils to many suffering celiac disease, dealing with gluten sensitivity, or clean eaters. One in every 133 people suffer from celiac disease, 30-40% of the population suffer from gluten sensitivity, and the rest of us are focusing on a healthier lifestyle. We’ve said our goodbyes to some of our favorite foods to strip this content from our diet plans, but going gluten-free provides more benefits in addition to a healthy diet.

Healthier Skin

Eliminating gluten helps reduce acne. Replace your favorite snacks with fresh produce like fruits and vegetables for essential vitamins and antioxidants, such as Vitamin E and Vitamin B3. They help protect you from inflammation, which can be caused by gluten since its glue-like properties are not good for digestion.

 A Hot Summer Bod

With a gluten free diet, you reduce digestive nuisances such as bloating, which is so annoying when your tummy isn’t flat on beach days. Even though this isn’t music to some of our ears, giving up wheat, rye, barley and packaged foods and replacing them with gluten-free options or fresher ingredients will have you slimmer in no time. As the excess starch disappears, that waist gets smaller.

Lessens Coffee Cravings

Foods containing gluten might cause malnutrition and risk the loss of vitamins and minerals when pairing it with healthy foods. Adopting a gluten-free diet may lead to consuming more fresh produce which usually means a well-balanced diet. Consuming healthy foods also helps increase energy levels.

Become Open Minded to Trying New Things

Now that most of the processed foods in your cabinets are practically gone due to giving up gluten, you have to find other foods to replace them. Most of us like our food to be tasty, so that means new recipes! As gluten-free lifestyles are becoming more popular, more markets are starting to add variety to their gluten-free section. Try replacing your favorite gluten foods with the following:

  • Quinoa
  • Buckwheat
  • Gluten-free flours
  • Fresh produce
