Selena Gomez revealed to the world her morning wellness ritual, ginger shots.

This week’s rendition of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke featured the Disney Channel turned pop sensation, Selena Gomez. We got to see them jam out to Sel’s Revival album, ride a roller coaster, and eat McDonald’s. It was a highly entertaining episode, you can watch the full video below.

One thing that we learned about Gomez, besides the fact that she is single and ready to mingle, is that she takes a ginger shot every morning. Any health tip from a Hollywood starlet always makes me want to follow suit. Maybe because it is their job to stay physically fit and they have the resources to do it the right way or because maybe if I do what they do I will wake up the next day and be invited to Carpool Karaoke? Regardless, when we find a gem like this, we must give it a go.

Ginger provides upset stomach and digestive relief, warms you up, and lessens aches and pains associated with colds and flus. Ginger is an expectorant and will help break up mucus in the lungs as well as soothe even the most painful sore throats. Its natural ability in fighting infections can be useful for performers who are constantly following hectic schedules, sleeping less, and are prone to getting sick. Even if you aren’t a touring pop star, we all can relate to busy schedules and crazy sleep schedules. Not to mention, there is always that one sick person in the office.

Your Wellness Shot Recipe:

  • Juice ½-1 whole lemon
  • Juice 1-inch piece of ginger
  • Add a dash or two of cayenne pepper

Throw one back at the onset of a cold or just when you need a little pick-me-up. The effects are almost instantaneous, and they are so easy to make.
