5 Reasons Red Wine Should Be In Your Diet

There isn’t a better way to celebrate than by listing all of the reasons you should add one glass of Red Wine into your daily diet. Let’s be clear we are not advocating for the whole bottle, just a glass. Heavy drinking has many scary side effects and we are NOT supportive of that. Nonetheless, one glass of red wine each day has numerous benefits that we can’t wait to share with you!

What makes red wine so good for you? It starts with a little thing called resveratrol, a compound that various plants make to fight off bacteria, fungi, and other microbial attackers. It’s found in red and purple grapes as well as cranberries, peanuts, and pistachios. A study back in 1992 from Cornell suggested that resveratrol might be responsible for the cardiovascular benefits of red wine. Since then there has been many studies done on how it affects our bodies. Without further ado, here are five reasons why red wine should be in your diet!

It Boosts Longevity

Wine is not only a great way to de-stress, but it also smoothes wrinkles too. Studies have shown that resveratrol activates anti-aging enzymes involved in DNA repair and other vital bodily processes.

It Increases Omega-3s

Just in case you were unaware, Omega-3s are the “good fats”. There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids: ALA, EPA, and DHA.  In a recent European study, researchers found that wine drinkers exhibited higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids than any other group studied. More omega-3s means improved eye health, brain health and it might also improve bone and joint health.

It Prevents Heart Disease

Red wine can prevent blood clotting that might lead to a heart attack, and even the American Heart Association supports this claim. Any type of alcohol could be helpful in preventing clotting, but red wine does this in addition to other heart-healthy benefits like preventing coronary disease and stroke.

It Clears Up Acne

As if we didn’t love resveratrol enough – studies have also shown that it inhibits the growth of bacteria that causes skin inflammation. This inflammation is another way to say “acne”. Next time you’re out to dinner, instead of ordering a soda, order your favorite red wine which could drastically help breakouts.

It Boosts Your Immune System

More recent studies have come out suggesting red wine helps fight dangerous flu symptoms. It all begins with wine’s gut-healing power. Wine allows certain gut bacteria to thrive, which in turn allows your immune system to thrive.
