Afternoon Slump

Everyone suffers from the afternoon energy slump. In the morning, you may feel productive, plowing through work assignments or household tasks. Then, around 2 p.m., you find yourself crashing. According to Jacob Teitelbaum M.D., a board certified internist and author of The Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Solution, it’s completely normal to feel groggy in the afternoon. Teitelbaum shares some quick and easy tips to get through that slump:

• Get up, stretch, and drink 8 to 12 ounces of cold water. You’ll be surprised by how your energy picks up as you treat the dehydration.
• Can’t leave your desk? Rub your ears. This will give you a quick energy burst as all of the acupuncture meridians reflect on your ears.
• Eat some chocolate. It contains theobromine, a natural stimulant!
